Non NHS Services

Some services are not covered by the NHS and we will therefore charge a fee for completion of this work.

The NHS medical care of our patients takes priority during our working day so any private letters or forms can take up to 4 weeks or longer to complete and return to you. We cannot guarantee they will be completed earlier.

Free NHS Health Check

Everyone is at risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease. The good news is that these conditions can often be prevented – even if you have a history of them in your family. Have your free NHS Health Check and you will be better prepared for the future and be able to take steps to maintain or improve your health.

  • Contact reception for further information.

Travel Health

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please ask reception for a ‘Travel Health Questionnaire’.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

  • Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Social Prescribing

Social prescribing is designed to support people with a wide range of social, emotional or practical needs, and many schemes are focused on improving mental health and physical well-being.

Referring patients through social prescribing recognises that people’s health is not only affected by physical and mental health issues, but also by a wide range of social, economic and environmental factors.

By offering holistic solutions to individuals’ needs, patients can become more directly involved in their care planning and encouraged to take more control of their own health.

Our Social Prescriber can connect patients with non-medical support, such as day centres, charities or community groups, in the community to improve their wellbeing and tackle social isolation.
